Summit Update – June 2016

It’s summertime! Things (except real estate) are pretty calm, with many people out of town and the 2nd home owners gone during this non-eventful, non-predictable (rain? thunder snow? sunshine?) season. The wildflowers are starting to bloom, the eagles and osprey are back, and the bike paths are almost empty – I like this time of year! But soon the county will be hopping with festivals and concerts, and outdoor enthusiasts on the lake and in the mountains… so enjoy the quiet now and start planning for summer:

Who Pays the Highest Property Taxes? Not Colorado – we are among the lowest! Summit County market details – charts and graphs by Land Title “Frustration rises as a fifth of Denver home sale deals fall through in April – Seller demands and buyer desperation lead to unusual increase in failed contracts, reports the Denver Metro Association of Realtors.” In Summit County we are seeing some multiple offers and some homes selling over asking, but we are not seeing the scheming and lawsuits that they have in the city. One reason is that the Realtors here know each other and see each other outside of work… and we expect to see our buyers and sellers in social situations… so reputations are important to us. And of course the people who want to be here tend to be nicer, smarter and less self-centered than most – isn’t that why you want to be here? DIYers: how to paint just about anything –upholstery? Door knobs and faucets? Crafty projects?
