Town of Silverthorne neighborhoods, activities…

The Blue River runs through the town, coming from Lake Dillon, past the Factory Stores, behind the new Town Center (picture), and along Hwy 9 as it passes through town and heads north to meet the Colorado River.

The Blue is known for its ‘Gold Medal’ fishing all along the way – you can even find fly-fishermen under the bridge at the Factory Stores! And just north of town the river is a playground for kayakers and rafters.

Take a scenic drive (and a picnic) and enjoy the river’s shore for miles, as it flows through meadows, valleys and ranches just like you expect to find in the Old West…

Some of the buildings you see in town were moved in the early 1960s from the old town of Dillon, when it was flooded to become the reservoir we have today.

These historic buildings now house 2 of our favorite restaurants: The Old Dillon Inn (Tex-Mex) and The Mint (a cook your own steak and seafood grill).

The Mountain Peaks of Buffalo (the round one) and Red (to the right) are the town’s backdrop, and are seen out many of our living room windows!

Silverthorne’s ‘state of the art’ recreation center – when it’s too cold to take the kids outside, you’re looking for a game of night time basketball… or you just want to relax in the hot tubs…

Exercise, educational, and just plain fun classes are offered for all ages. The rec center is open to the public (residents and visitors are welcome).

Area homes

The Willowbrook neighborhood, at the base of Buffalo Mtn.

Willowbrook is considered to be a "local’s neighborhood" – the majority or owners live here full time. This is a "family friendly" area, with Trent Park and ball fields at the subdivision entrance, sidewalks along the main street, forest trails nearby, and roads that aren’t not too steep for bicycling.

But it takes all types to make a neighborhood… there are some vacation homes here, and the number of summer homes owned by retirees from hotter parts of the world is growing.

Duplex and triplex prices (per unit) $280,000 –500,000

Single family homes $400,000 – 700,000

The Aspens at Eagles Nest

Adjacent to the Raven at Three Peaks Golf Course (used to be Eagles Nest), this neighborhood appeals to locals and second home owners alike.

These homes all have open great rooms (living room open to dining and kitchen) with cathedral ceilings, attached garages, private patios with small garden area, 2 or 3 bedrooms, and were built between 1993 – 1997. But they are different sizes and colors, so you won’t accidentally walk into your neighbors home!

These homes are truly easy to own since the association maintains the majority of the land surrounding the homes, and they paint each home every 3 years!

$400,000 – 600,000 (and going up quickly)

Ruby Ranch is a gated equestrian community, with open pastures, pine forests, and lots of privacy. Dirt roads, split rail fences, and old barns bring back memories of the old west…

Home prices $700,000 – 5,000,000

Lots $200,000 - $600,000

Sierra Bosque is located on the west side of the Blue River Valley, about 9 miles north of town (look for Blue Ridge Rd)

This area appeals to people who want to be just a little ‘out there’. With larger lots than most of the county (1-3 acres), National Forest backing to the neighborhood, and the Blue River just across the road, this might be just the place if you are a nature lover.

Lot prices $200,000 - 360,000 Homes $550,000 – 800,000

More   Silverthorne neighborhoods

The quaint town of Heeney sits on the shore of the Green Mountain Reservoir, 20 miles north of Silverthorne. Dillon is fun for boaters… but if you want to get wet, drive on out – water skiing and swimming are allowed. Heeney is also a great spot for hiking and hunting, since it is surrounded by National Forest. And don’t miss the annual Tick Festival, a not quite traditional small town fair.

Cabins start at $150,000. Home prices go up to over $1M. Expect lots to range from $80,000 – 450,000 (or more for ranch land)
